Landscape Gone Wrong

Choosing a professional landscape company is critical when you want to do a large installation.
This property recently underwent renovation and construction.

At the end, the installation of the landscape was done poorly - see the inconsistent lines and spacing of the plantings.
The lack of detail reflects poorly on the property as a whole.

This loropetalum was crammed in a shallow hole that will not allow the plant to grow - and will ultimately cause it to die.

After pulling back the recently installed turf, there is a large whole with an exposed irrigation pipe. Not only will the grass not grow, but this area is a hazard to people walking.

Spring: Time to Plan Ahead!

Spring is right around the corner and now is the time to start planning for your landscape needs. As far as turf is concerned, a preemergent should be applied for warm season grasses and a combination of a preemergent with fertilizer should be applied to cool season grasses. It appears that the water restrictions are going to be loosened, so spring would be a great time to get your new landscape installed.

Any other projects, including many types of hardscapes, can be done now. Outdoor kitchens and fireplaces are very hot right now and installing one or both of these really allows you to enjoy your yard that much more. They can turn your yard into an extended part of the house and make the space functional and great for entertaining.

What you can do in February for a Beautiful Summer

It looks like more rain is on the way for the Atlanta area!

Here are some things to consider doing for your lawn to prepare it for a beautiful summer:
  • Apply pre-emergent to Bermuda, Zoysia.
  • Apply pre-emergent with fertilizer to Fescue.
  • Continue with post-emergent weed control.
  • Prune Crape Myrtles.
